FGCU theater professor Gerritt VanderMeer to play Officer Lockstock in ‘Urinetown’

In collaboration with TheatreZone, the FGCU TheatreLab is bringing Urinetown, the Musical to the stage in October. Gerritt VanderMeer will play the part of Officer Lockstock.

Gerritt has served as Associate Professor of Theatre at Florida Gulf Coast University since 2012. Previous appearances with the BSMA/TheatreZone Professional Musical Theatre co-production include: President Wintergreen in Of Thee I Sing and Judas in Godspell. National tour credits include Harold Hill in The Music Man. He has also appeared in regional productions at Florida Repertory Theatre, Gulfshore Playhouse, Trinity Repertory Company, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Old Globe, Pioneer Theatre Company, Shakespeare Theatre Company (D.C.), Texas Shakespeare Festival, Geva Theatre, Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum and The Geffen Playhouse. His film and television resume includes The Good Wife, Law and Order, Ugly Betty, Rescue Me, All My Children and As the World Turns.

At FGCU, Professor VanderMeer is the co-leader of the Adventure Abroad faculty-led Study Abroad program in Summer 2019 to Italy, Greece and the Ancient Mediterranean.
