Cast of ‘Joe Turner’ dominated by newcomers
On stage in the Foulds Theatre through March 17 is Theatre Conspiracy at the Alliance’s production of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. Anchoring Sonya McCarter’s cast are Cicero McCarter III in the role of Bynum Walker, Jim Yarnes as Rutherford Selig, Katherine Oni as Mattie Campbell and Cantrella Canday playing the part of Martha Pentecost. But the cast includes a number of theater newcomers and other actors who are making their Theatre Conspiracy debuts.

his first fledgling steps into the brave new world of theater. A recent FGCU graduate who focused on psychology and theater, the Fort Myers native is preparing to move to Atlanta later this year in order to take his acting career to the next level.
Playing the part of Bertha Holly is Tijuana Clemons. She just completed a breakout performance as Louise in August Wilson’s Seven Guitars. Originally from Fort Pierce, Tijuana enjoys expressing giving voice to her artistic creativity both in front of and behind the camera, on stage and off, with a brushstroke or by singing a
soulful melody.
Kris Reid is making his acting debut in the role of Jeremy Furlow. Kris caught the acting bug in his church’s drama department and has always wanted the opportunity to perform in community theater.
Lemec Bernard is also making his acting debut. He is appearing in the role of Herald Loomis.
Born and raised in Dunbar, Rozaria Brown is a shining star ready to light up the theater world. No stranger to the stage, Rozaria has recently been accepted into the Theatre Program at
Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts. She plays the part of Zonia Loomis in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.
Kavon Simmons is also new to theater. A student at Challenger Middle School with three younger siblings, Kavon is already looking ahead to his next role. He’s playing the part of Rueben Mercer.

A former tax attorney, Tom holds a bachelor's degree as well as both a juris doctorate and masters of laws in taxation from the University of Florida.
