High-energy Tony-winning ‘In the Heights’ musical coming to Lab Theater stage
The Southwest Florida premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights opens March 27 at The Laboratory Theater of Florida. This high-energy musical was nominated for 13 and winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood, a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the 
breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams, and pressures and where the biggest struggles involve deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
“I am honored to be directing the Southwest Florida premiere of 
In The Heights at The Lab,” says Director Carmen Crussard. “It beautifully illustrates the importance of community, despite our different cultural backgrounds. I hope this production will create a renewed appreciation for Latin-American and hip-hop culture in our own Southwest Florida community.”

About the Author
Tom Hall is both an amateur artist and aspiring novelist who writes art quest thrillers. He is in the final stages of completing his debut novel titled "Art Detective," a story that fictionalizes the discovery of the fabled billion-dollar Impressionist collection of Parisian art dealer Josse Bernheim-Jeune, thought by many to have perished during World War II when the collection's hiding place, Castle de Rastignac in southern France, was destroyed by the Wehrmacht in reprisal for attacks made by members of the Resistance operating in the area. A former tax attorney, Tom holds a bachelor's degree as well as both a juris doctorate and masters of laws in taxation from the University of Florida. Tom lives in Estero, Florida with his fiancee, Connie, and their four cats.
