Play:  The Piano Lesson

Playwright:  August Wilson

Setting:  Pittsburgh, 1936

Synopsis:  Two siblings, Billie Boy and Bernice, inherit a piano. Billie Boy wants to sell the family heirloom to purchase a parcel of land in Mississippi that he can farm. Viewing the piano as an integral reminder of where they came from, who they are now, and as a legacy for their future generations, Bernice insists on keeping it.
