‘Faceless’ an enthralling, thought-provoking drama based on real court case

Alliance for the Arts debuts two new faces in January’s performances of Faceless. This Florida premiere comes from an exciting new playwright – the two-time winner of the Agnes Nixon Playwriting Festival and the recipient of the first annual Judith Barlow Prize, Selina Fillinger.

Based on real people and true facts, the story revolves around eighteen-year-old Susie Glenn, who is on trial for conspiring to commit acts of terrorism. The prosecutor is a recent Harvard Law grad and practicing Muslim named Claire Fathi. Engaged to an ISIS fighter she met through social media, Susie believes wholeheartedly in radical Islam. For her part, Claire questions Susie’s right to profess herself a true Muslim while, at the same time, knowing that she herself is being used as a token in the prosecution of Susie’s case. Though pitted against one another in the courtroom, these two young women are fighting a similar battle – to defend their morals, motives and religious freedoms in this riveting and timely new drama.

Miguel Cintron makes his Theatre Conspiracy directorial debut. Sharon Isern and newcomer Vanessa Schoof star.

Faceless opens January 19 and runs through January 29.
