Naples Art in the Park
Date: First Saturday of the month from November through April
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Place: You’ll find Art in the Park on Park Street, adjacent to The von Liebig Art Center. Located just a block and a half from historic Fifth Avenue South, Art in the Park is within walking distance of trendy European boutiques, sidewalk cafes and iconic art galleries such as New River Fine Art, Sheldon Fine Art, Call of Africa’s Native Visions Gallery, Shaw Gallery of Fine Art and gallery O. The show is also just three minutes by car from fabled Gallery Row and the Third Street South Gallery District.
Description: Art in the Park showcases paintings in oil and acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass art, jewelry and wood-working created by members in good standing of the Naples Art Association. For art lovers, it’s a casual, fun-filled venue for meeting local artists and becoming acquainted with their work. On the flip side, Art in the Park not only gives participating artists the opportunity to show and sell their work, it affords them a terrific platform in which to build rapport with collectors while fostering their knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the the arts and their own extensive portfolios. Recognizing the importance of these dual but complimentary roles, show director Marianne Megela has introduced a demonstration booth to the event. It is designed to place the focus on technique and methodology. Last year, members and guest artists showed attendees how quick-drying watercolors is akin to “dancing on paper,” how to use a potter’s wheel, creating unique glass beads, and more.
Cost: Admission is free
Organizer: Naples Art Association
Event Director: Marianne Megela serves as Festival Director for the Naples Art Association. She joined NAA after serving as vice president and Show Chair for the Naples Artcrafters, where for six years she was responsible for organizing the art and craft shows they hold each fall/winter season in Cambier Park. Previous to that, Megela gained experience in what it takes to orchestrate a successful art show event while participating in hundreds of art shows through her photography marketing business, Artzefolks. Marianne holds a degree in commercial art from the University of Akron.
