Focus on ‘White Christmas’ Oxydol girls Tristina Timm and Lauren Harris

On stage at Fort Myers Theatre December 7-10 and Arts Center Theater December 13-17 is Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, and playing the parts of the “charmed, I’m sure” Oxydol girls, Rita and Rhonda, are Tristina Timm and Lauren Harris.

The Oxydol girls are social climbers, and their ticket to fun, fame and fortune is no less than song-and-dance man Phil Davis. Much to the chagrin of Judy Haynes (perfectly played by Lilikoi Porter), Rita and Rhoda are far from subtle in their pursuit of some laughs with Phil. They knew him first and have definitely caught his wandering eye with their overt flirtations. So they’re not at all pleased to have some smart, sexy interloper horn in on their action. The interchanges between the girls and Judy provide some of the more amusing scenes and sight gags in the musical.

But where Timm and Harris really distinguish themselves is through their work in the ensemble. Both can dance. In the show’s sophisticated and expertly-choreographed dance numbers, both catch not only the audience’s eye, but their fancy as well. But choreographer Robin Dawn Ryan takes full advantage of Timm’s considerable experience as a dancer by featuring her in the show’s Broadway-quality dance numbers.

Specifically, Timm danced competitively for 15 years in ballet, tap, lyrical, and pom. She was a part of the National Champion University of Minnesota Dance Team and was a professional cheerleader for the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Timberwolves. After training, she opened her own dance studio, coached a high school dance team for 10 years, and has choreographed for professional cheer and dance squads, as well as solos, duets, trios, groups and productions in jazz, tap, and Musical Theater.

Lauren Harris was seen previously at Fort Myers Theatre and Arts Center Theatre on Marco Island in the ensemble of Music Man and in the ensemble at Fort Myers Theatre in Beauty and the Beast.

Charmed we are.
