Kevin Crumpler is Headmistress Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical at Fort Myers Theatre. Trunchbull is a tyrant. It’s hard to imagine a more loathsome educator than the boarding school’s headmistress. In fact, her motto – and that of the school – is “bambinatum est magitum” — “children are maggots,” and Trunchbull treats them with all the disdain and opprobrium she can muster. Crumpler is scary good in the role.

His prior credits include Bob Wallace in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at Gulf Theatre, Fort Myers Theatre and the Arts Center Theatre on Marco Island, Willy Wonka in Fort Myers Theatre’s production of Willy Wonka the Musical, Judas and John the Baptist in Godspell, Professor Bhaer in Little Women (his Florida debut), Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Beast in Beauty & The Beast, Lancelot in Camelot, Buck Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde, Warren Sheffield in Meet Me in St. Louis and Sonny Malone in Xanadu. Kevin appeared at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre as Dan in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat and IQ in Hairspray.
