2017 FMff Logo 1The 7th Annual Fort Myers Film Festival kicks off Wednesday night (March 8) with a red carpet gala and the screening of not one, but two films: Black Tide, a documentary film by Steven Johnson that explores the challenges faced by those who look to maintain clean Southwest Florida waters from water mismanagement and the influence of big business and politics, and Invisible Point, a poignant 5-minute film depicting a small group of females who dance with passion and vision in Iran, a land where dance is prohibited because it’s considered a sin. Following the glitzy VIP after-party on the stage of the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall, the festival launches the following morning into four days of programming that includes more than 70 independent feature, documentary and short Black Tide Promos 01films before winding up on Sunday night (March 12) with a champagne and dessert awards ceremony that applauds the best in each category and celebrates all the films and filmmakers who made it into this year’s Fort Myers Film Festival.
