Spotlight on ‘DMV’ playwright Zalman Velvel

Zalman Velvel is prolific amateur playwright whose credits include two award-winning Off Off Broadway plays, Honeymoon in Hell and The Unemployment Line, along with two others previously performed at Lab Theater as developmental projects, 55 and Over and The Second Book of Ruth. The former focused on the problems facing many of our elderly who, regrettably, often forced to choose between paying their rent/mortgage and utilities or buying groceries and medications. The latter centered around a non-Jewish woman who visits an Orthodox Jewish rabbi for conversion classes so that she can remarry her first husband. Both were well received by Lab Theater audiences, who eagerly await the opening of Velvel’s latest offering, DMV.
