Cypress Lake performing ‘Holiday Inn’ medley at 2024 Musical Theatre Awards
The High School Musical Theatre Awards take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at the Barbara B Mann Performing Art Hall at FSW. Started in 2008 by Barbara Mann GM Scott Saxson, the High School Musical Theatre Awards celebrate local high school actors, orchestras, their musical productions and the hard work those students do every year.
Among the eight area schools taking part in the Awards this year is Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts.
Cypress brings to the 2024 High School Musical Theatre Awards a medley from their production earlier this year of Holiday Inn.
Holiday Inn
follows the story of Jim Hardy, a talented performer who leaves the showbiz world behind for a farmhouse in Connecticut. As he enjoys the simpler life, he decides to turn his home into an inn that celebrates each holiday. His friend Ted Hanover, a fellow entertainer, becomes part of the story as he competes for the affections of Jim’s love interest,
Linda Mason. Holiday Inn is a journey through the seasons, filled with romance, laughter, and holiday magic.
The theatre program at Cypress Lakes reflects the formidable skills and considerable experience of Theatre Director/Teacher Carmen Crussard, who also directs the Alliance Youth Theatre.
Also participating in this year’s HSMTA are Bishop Verot High School, Canterbury School, Ida S. Baker
High School, Island Coast High School, Lehigh Senior High School, North Fort Myers High Center for the Arts and Oasis High School.
