The documentary Fly Like a Girl screened during this year’s Fort Myers Film Festival at the IMAG History and Science Center and received the Edison Award of Innovation. More than just a film, Fly Like a Girl is a movement of young girls and women relentlessly pursuing their passion for aviation – a field currently dominated by men. The film also represents filmmaker Katie Wiatt’s feature-length directorial debut.

In addition to the FMff, the documentary has also been an official selection of the Yes Film Festival in Columbus, Indiana, Sunscreen Film Festival 2019, Sarasota Film Festival 2019, Hot Springs International Women’s Film Festival 2019, Vero Beach Wind + Film Festival 2019 and the 20th Annual Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival. And the trailer for Fly Like a Girl won a Gold ADDY in Cinema Advertising at the 2019 Fourth District American Advertising Awards.

In addition to attending film festival screenings, Katie has appeared on the Chasing Earhart podcast (Fly Like a Girl: A Conversation with Katie Wiatt) and Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend with host Natalie Taylor and St. PeteClearwater Film Commissioner Tony Armer.
